Yakima County CWPP

We will provide a comprehensive and collaborative plan that will assist Yakima County in reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire. The plan integrates existing GIS datasets to develop a risk assessment framework for the vegetated lands—grasslands, forests, rangelands and riparian areas—and developed communities within the project area. The plan will be collaboratively developed, it will identify and prioritize areas for hazardous fuels reduction, and it will recommend realistic measures that homeowners and communities can take to reduce the ignitability of structures throughout the county. A wide range of community participation tools will be used to ensure stakeholder participation throughout the planning process. This early and continued stakeholder involvement is essential to ensuring that plans and recommendations meet the needs of the community. This plan will be a live document that can be updated by the County and involved stakeholders on an annual basis.
